Regulation and variation: the key to reliable and sustainable public lighting
When night falls on a city, its brightness does not depend solely on streetlights. Behind the light, there is often an unstable electrical current. And that is where regulation variation enters the stage: discreet, yet essential. This technology, at the heart of BH Technologies solutions, acts as an invisible conductor, ensuring stability, longevity and energy efficiency.
Regulation for better lighting
Electricity networks for public lighting, often old, which are sometimes unbalanced, experience overvoltage, undervoltage and neutral breaks. These prolonged variations damage LED drivers and shorten the lifespan of luminaires.
Regulation variation corrects these imbalances.
At BH Technologies, customised control cabinets maintain a precise output voltage of ± 2.5 V, even if the input voltage varies between 175 V and 264 V.
Result: stable lighting, without micro-cuts or flickering.
The ST Compact model, meanwhile, targets low power ratings (less than 7 kVA) with a regulation accuracy of ± 1% (± 2 V) and an efficiency greater than 98%, perfect for existing cabinets in rural communities.
What we solve with regulation

A smart variation to save energy and adapt the light
The variation is not limited to lowering the voltage: it adapts the lighting to city life. By programming a gradual reduction, the lighting adjusts according to the time of day or footfall, eliminating the need to maintain 100% power at 3 a.m.
ST Compact cabinets automatically lower voltage thanks to their integrated twilight switch or astronomical clock, delivering immediate energy savings of up to 50% without affecting existing networks.
And if your LED luminaires do not have a MainDim driver, the BH Dim mast foot module synchronises their power variation with the rest of the network. The result: consistent, controlled lighting across the entire line.
Variation regulation protects and sustains the network
Variation regulation not only protects streetlights: it preserves the entire electrical system.
BH regulators automatically cut off the installation at 270 V in the event of an overvoltage, then switch it back on without micro-interruptions. They are also compatible with all types of networks (common, separate or mixed neutral) and can operate even without a direct reference to the neutral.
Add to this built-in protection (type 2 surge arrester, neutral breakage controller, thermal and hygrometric regulation), and you have a truly intelligent shield for urban and rural networks.
Efficiency, precision, continuity: measured performance
These figures reflect a robust design, built to last, with consistent energy efficiency across the entire operating range.

Stable lighting for a sustainable future
Choosing dimming control means giving the electricity grid a break. It means extending the life of LEDs, reducing maintenance, avoiding power surges and consuming less energy. In other words: greater reliability, lower costs and lighting that supports the city in its energy transition.
Because efficient public lighting is, above all, well-regulated energy.
